Osteopathy is a whole body approach to treating a wide range of aches, pains and other conditions affecting your joints, ligaments, muscles, bones and nervous system.
Treatable ConditionsWhether you have an aching jaw or persistent back pain, osteopaths are skilled at finding the cause of, and treating, a wide range of painful conditions. Joint pain, nerve entrapment, misaligned bones and injured muscles and ligaments are just some of the issues an osteopath can help you with. Osteopathy can also treat some digestive complaints.
Osteopathy can treat a wide range of conditions, including (but not limited to):
- Headaches
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Knee pain
- Ankle sprains
- Sciatica
- Stress
- Neuritis
- Sports injuries
- Osteitis pubis
- Rehab
- Jaw ache
- Asthma
- Arthritis
- Constipation
Osteopathy can give you effective, fast and long lasting results that free you from pain and get your body moving freely once again.
How does Osteopathy work?Seeing an osteopath sooner, rather than later, is a wise move. Left untreated, conditions such as niggling pains or injuries that you ‘accept’ and live with are very likely to evolve into chronic and more serious conditions. Mild pains are the start of a ‘slippery slope’ that can eventually lead to chronic pain and disability, with a significant impact on your enjoyment of life.
For example, you may have a mild back or neck pain that you have become ‘accustomed’ to. You may not notice the gradual ‘creep’ of tightness and restriction of movement that it brings – until one day you ‘suddenly discover’ you can no longer easily or safely do activities or jobs that you used to do.
This is where osteopathy becomes more than a treatment, but also a prevention of more serious conditions developing. Treat your pains now making an osteopathy appointment today
What happens during an Osteopathic treatment?Your osteopath will discuss your pain or other issues with you and make an assessment of your condition. They will then use various soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisations and manipulations to treat your injury or condition and improve function in your body. They will also prescribe specific exercises or stretches for you to do at home to help support the treatment.
Is Osteopathy safe?Yes. In Australia osteopaths must train for five years to become qualified. They have in depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and a thorough knowledge of medical conditions and diagnosis. Osteopaths know what they can treat, and when they need to refer you to other medical specialists. Your safety is always the top priority.
